Sunrise over Big Bend National Park.
This past weekend I went on an amazing trip to Big Bend to ring in my 29th birthday with some close friends. I'm so very blessed to have such amazing people in my life. It was extremely cold at night, but worth it to see so many stars in that giant Texas sky. I'll admit, I wasn't quite ready to return to my regular life. Something about being out in nature rejuvenates my soul and brings me a peace that is hard for me to find elsewhere.
Landscape photography tends to be all about chasing that perfect light, but I think it's also about capturing a feeling. Our cameras, as advanced as they are, can't fully capture what the eye sees and one of the many joys of landscape photography, for me, is using my artistry after-the-fact to fully convey what I saw and hopefully what I felt as well.
I took this photo a few hours before we departed and to me it encapsulates the wonder and awe I experienced standing before this vast landscape and the joy I felt to ring in another year of my life with some of the greatest people I know.
