My trip around America is officially underway! Today mark's my fifth day on the road and it's been an amazing journey so far.
I spent my first evening in New Iberia, Louisiana where I couch-surfed with a local named Tracy and her family. They were incredibly generous and accommodating even going so far as to provide dinner and beer!
I spent the next morning roaming around the countryside. Everywhere I looked there were beautiful plantations, cane fields, and oak trees covered in Moss. I explored a local hotspot called Rip Van Winkle Gardens and had some delicious Crawfish Bisque at the Cafe there.
My visit to the gardens, unfortunately, had to be cut short due to an ominous storm rolling in. So I got back in the car and headed down I-90 towards New Orleans. But sadly, my visit there was plagued by rain which limited the number of shots I was able to get. I will say, though, that having never been before, New Orleans is a crazy city. It has a unique energy, smell, and character that constantly made me forget I was in the US.
After departing New Orleans, I made my way down I-10 through Mississippi and Alabama until I finally arrived in Florida. I decided to make camp for the night at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it. It's nice and secluded and probably one of the few places in Florida where you can see both the sunrise and the sunset over the ocean.
At the moment, I'm taking advantage of the free Wifi at a Starbucks outside of Tampa. I should arrive at Everglades National Park tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait to share more photos with everyone!
